Yes to the jobs in the north



I had lunch with a couple of friends yesterday, one of whom is unemployed after being made redundant late last year and the other is feeling nervous about the security of her job.

When I first moved to Whangarei (just over three years ago now) the job situation was fantastic; I could have had the pick of many jobs.

Now, not only are there less jobs around, there are considerably more applicants for these jobs.

How is the "Global Economic Downturn" affecting your city or town?

  1. Well, here's much the same as it is up where you are but there's loads of mortgagee sales going on. Gotta feel sorry for people that lost their properties.

  2. Well in the UK unemployment is rising and at the same time house values are falling fast.

    This situation is likely to last a few years..
